Meet Véronique Cousin
We were thrilled to be invited to sit down with Véronique Cousin to discover Fayence, a flying club specifically designated for gliding.
It comes as no surprise that aviation is responsible for a majority of the greenhouse emissions and so gliding is the most environmental way to fly. We were thrilled to collaborate with them in creating eco-friendly, sustainable & ethically made clothing.
Half-Way between Provence and the world-famous French Riviera, Fayence is close to the beaches of Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Nice, and Saint-Raphael, the charms of Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Monaco, and Menton, the many hiking trails of the Verdon, Mercantour, and Esterel Mountains, and countless ' postcard ' hilltop villages.
KOKORO: When did you first fly?
I made my first glider flight (3h) at the age of 7 with my father (who had also been a glider pilot since around 1970 but quit a few years ago)
KOKORO: Why do you like gliding?
There are several things, for this freedom to be able to fly like a bird, to work with the natural elements, to be able to see majestic landscapes (Alps). we are a big family and mutual help is very important for this activity. The learning never stops even when you are an experienced pilot. friendships are made.
KOKORO: Your connection with Feyance aerodrome is very special, can you explain why?
In our family the passion for aviation and especially the glider was passed on from my grandmother to my father and transmitted this "virus" to my sister and me. Even on my mother's side / family, there is no pilot but the interest and passion for planes is there.
My sister and I had this chance to have grown up between gliders. we lived in Switzerland, on weekends we often went to the glider field (Montricher CH) and holidays here in Fayence.
KOKORO: What are you doing at the club?
Before leaving Switzerland at the end of 2020 to come to France, I was doing volunteer work and for 2 years I have been working in the office / secretariat.
I am responsible for administration and responsible for the admin follow-up of students and pilots
KOKORO: What activity does Fayence Vol A Voile do for clubs in the world of gliding (V.I), companies, education, etc.?
